  • Quality and purity of sound
  • Extremely comfortable in the hand
  • Incredibly quick response
  • Resilient and durable

  • Used by a growing number of professional musicians worldwide

Two hundred years after F.X. Tourte re-invented the bow, Arcus have achieved another exciting standard for bows: they have designed and made a bow that improves the sound for stringed instruments. Over the past 13 years Arcus bows have set new standards and have delighted thousands of musicians all around the world with their ease of play and tonal characteristics

What's even better is that these bows don't cost a fortune. For the price of an average to normal pernambuco bow (an endangered species) you can get a bow that's a match for many of the finest wood bows. The Arcus top models open up a fascinating new world of sounds and technical possibilities.

Advanced students and professionals alike will find that Arcus bows allow them to play more naturally and with greater ease. Because of the reduced mass of the stick, the bow is able to respond very quickly to the player's movements. Changes in pressure for dynamics and articulation produce an almost instant response, making more traditional bows feel cumbersome and slow. Attacks are quick and sharp and directional bow changes are smooth. The energetic nature of these bows makes playing 'off the string' in a Spiccato or Sautille style exceptionally easy.

Arcus design and make carbon fibre bows that not only give exceptional comfort and purity of sound, but also avoid hand and arm fatigue and pain.

Arcus found that most traditional bows had the same base resonance as the human hand and arm (approx 20 Hz) and these low non-musical vibrations were responsible for, at best tiredessness in the bowing arm, and at worst inflammation over time. Arcus designed their bows to eliminate these non-musical vibrations, tuning them specifically above 50 Hz ). Many players report a more relaxed playing style and the ability to play comfortably for longer with an Arcus bow. All Arcus bows are made by hand in Germany. While they all share enormous potential, each bow has its own individual characteristics.

If you're looking for a better sound, then Arcus bows should be on your list to try!
