Two hundred years after F.X. Tourte re-invented the bow, Bernd Muesing of Arcus has achieved
what most people wouldn't have thought possible: He designed and made a bow that improved
the sound for all stringed instruments. Over the past 12 years
Arcus bows have set new standards and have made thousands of musicians all around the world so happy
with their performance that they have retired their other bows for good.
What is even more exciting is that these bows don't cost a fortune. For the price of an average
to normal pernambuco bow (an endangered species) you can get a bow that is a match for the finest competition,

All Arcus bows are entirely made in Germany by highly skilled craftsmen. While they all share enormous potential,

Arcus make several different bow models for each instrument. Each carbon fibre bow stick is tested and then
categorised into one of the models based on its resonance characteristics.

Arcus design and make carbon fibre bows that not only give exceptional comfort and purity of sound, but also avoid hand and arm fatigue and pain.
Arcus found that most traditional bows had the same base resonance as the human hand and arm and these low non-musical vibrations were responsible for, at best tiredessness in the bowing arm, and at worst inflammation over time. Arcus designed their bows to eliminate these non-musical vibrations. Many players report a more relaxed playing style and the ability to play comfortably for longer with an Arcus bow.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to have the correct amount of hair used on your bow as this changes the playing characteristics.
When you have your Arcus bow rehaired, please make sure that your rehairer follows the Arcus rehair guidelines which can be found on the Arcus website.
